The Blue Moon beach club has a long history at the Lido of Venice. It is located at the end of the main street Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta which is characterized by bars and restaurants. In the 1980s the original building got demolished before in 1995 construction for a new building designed by Italian architect Giancarlo de Carlo began. However, due to the architect's passing and problems with the financing, the building was never properly realized and decaied after a small period of usage.

The goal of the design is to repair and extend the existing structure and its unique formal language to guarantee use throughout the year as originally intended by de Carlo and create a destination for the urban axis of the Gran Viale. Bathing in summer is supplemented by a cultural park in interior and exterior spaces which provides the possibility for fine and performing artists to work and connect with each other as well as the public.
